Today we had a good morning at the lake and everything ran great. We stopped to switch riders on the tube and when we were ready to go my 2005 234 5.7 volvo funship would not start. I had plenty of battery but nothing. I made sure the boat was in neutral and the safety cut off switch was ok but nothing. The starter never made a clicking noise or anything. The starter felt hot to the touch but never made an attempt to turn over. We got a tow back to shore and made it home. Any Ideas ??? |

Starter fuse or relay on engine. There are two breakers in my engine compartment one that reads 20 and the other one is red next to the intake if you have those tap them in maybe that might do it. |

I had the same issue with my 2006 5.0 litre this past summer, intermittent no start, no crank, no sound. This has always been typical of a bad starter solenoid. I also read of the relay that sits on top of engine so I purchased both the relay and starter solenoid, when the boat would not start on the lake I replaced the relay and it would still not start, after a bit it started. took it into the dock and once cooled down replaced the starter solenoid, worked fine the rest of the season! Need to go online and get the actual volvo penta solenoid, had bought one prior that did not match up. |
