I have a 2008 Funship 210 with the rear facing cushion. At the corner of the cushion, nearest the side with the rear ladder, there is a brownish color liquid seeping out when when the cushion gets wet. Possibly some bad varnish on wood integral to cushion. A brown residue is left in the vicinity of the two blower vents just below this edge of the cushion. Anyone else experiencing such?

Thats from the PT wood, it needs to be sealed. I was thinking of using polyurethane or West System this fall.

Thanks for the prompt response. Wouldn't you have to unstitch the cushion to get at the wood? Sounds like an involved project to seal it.

I have the same issue with my rear facing "jump seat". Seems like an involved fix to me too... and the brown stains are very annoying :?

As a simple yet permanent fix can you maybe slip the cover off and replace the wood with Starboard??

My stains are not too bad. I am going to try to seal the wood first. Its too easy and simple to do, pulse I already have the stuff to do it. Than go to 1/2 starboard, if needed, but starboard is pricey. I am thinking that the covering is water tight (I hope) & the water is running down the sides and onto the wood. The wood gets so wet, that the water drips off & pulling that PT "stuff" out of the wood with it. This also happens with my side panels too.

I had the same issue with my 2006 rear seat - forward facing (part of hatch cover) within one year of ownership, took in to dealer and they handled under warranty, not sure if it was replaced or how they repaired it.

I too had this problem with my 07 224. I went to my dealer and they replaced it free of charge. I was out of warranty but they did right by me!

Interestingly enough the replacement seat assy has the same black backing as the bow seats. The original aft facing seat was raw plywood on the bottom. Looks like the modded seat is the ticket so far.

Brown residue seeping out of wood is usually wood rot, the only complete cure is to either replace the wood or let it dry out and coat with a thinned epoxy like CPES (wear a respirator)

Mine is not rotting, its only 5 years old. I used West System epoxy on it to seal it. I had it so I used it, if that does not work, starboard it the next step.
