Anyone have this setup? Wondering how the 5.0 handles the boat?

I have the 270HP 5.0GXi DP on my 2003 234. I'd say it pushes it around just fine, but certainly not really powerfully. We tube, wakeboard, etc. without needing anymore. Hole shot is fine, but not amazing. Haven't tried pulling a slalom skiier yet, but expect it'd be plenty to get the job done. Tops out around mid-40mph, which also meets our needs.

I'd expect it to handle your 224 even better. You should be fine. However, if you want something really "meaty," then go with the 5.7.

Usually more power = better fuel consumption when putting around too.

If you can, get a GXi engine instead of a Gi. The difference between a Gi and GXi? The GXi has roller cam/lifters, the Gi has standard hydraulic lifters. Don't stress over it though. No difference in reliability.
