I have a 2008 f224 and want to change out my seat pedestal for something taller. Do you know what type of pedestal I need? is it the atwood 278?
Thanks

Me too, cause I purchased a new (to me) nice seat and I'm wondering what pedestal to use.

From West Marine. Holes lined up perfect to previous pedestal. I do not have the part number, but it was off the shelf. I brought the old one with me. Previous owner had cut it so low, I had to sit on my throwable and some towels. Much nicer taller.

I will measure mine when I get home. I think it is like 9 screws. Took me a few minutes. Quick and easy change.

Sorry guys, I meant to do this last night, but with my boat potentially out of service for the holiday weekend, I have been helping my buddy re-rig a boat he re-did for his boys so we have at least 2 boats.

My pedestal is 15 inches high. It is all one piece with the base molded on. There are 7 screws and the holes lined up exactly the same. I never thought about using 5200 on the bolts, but now that Lou mentioned it, I might do that on mine.

My OEM seat fit right on top. I am just about 6' tall and I can see over the windshield perfectly. I also love that my seat turns around so you can move when backing up or sitting in the boat on the hook.

Just wondering if you might rethink the use of 5200 and use 4200 instead.

I actually use 4200. But have been using 5200 helping my friend with his boat. Not sure of the difference, but I had read on here to use the 4200.

He uses 5200 and had restored tons of boats so I did not question him on it lol

FYI

5200 is VERY difficult to remove,
The seal is extremely strong, retains its strength above or below the water line. Stays flexible too - allows for structural movement. Has excellent resistance to weathering and salt water.

4200
Bonds and seals fiberglass, gelcoat and wood. Ideal for rub-rails, stern-joints, deck and through-hull fittings, and access plates. Medium strength allows for disassembly.

We used the 5200 for the 4 bolts mounting the outboard. We used it on the Center Console too and a few other places.

I have only used 4200 on my boat.

Thanks for the info!
