You can kinda see where my trim tabs are in this pic, they are in the inside the extended pods. I'm not an engineer and for that matter, have not even had the boat out as I just bought it in late October, but it would seem to me, that you'd get more downforce with them in this location as opposed to where yours our located at the end of the pods since these run dry when at speed.

I had the same question a while ago, as I wasn't sure where tabs should be installed on the hull, as I've seen them both ways.
Thankfully, the Cap'n weighed in, and I was comforted! See my cut-and-paste below:

I noticed a few posts on trim tabs lately and apologize if I'm hijacking or diverting this thread, but I noticed from DaleG's transom shot that the tabs are located immediately adjacent to the outdrive. I've also seen shots where the tabs are located on the pods themselves.
When I installed my Smart Tabs, everything I read said to install them as far outboard as possible, so I put them on the edge of the pods on my Sundowner 205.
Right or wrong?
Right, if your hull/pod shape allows it. The farther out the better. Here is an oldy but goody from Dale.

If you look at the stern/pods/hull design of the 2003 240H, it's tough to mount them anywhere but where Dale did.
