I am the new owner of a 1999 Sundowner 205 Sport Volvo 5.0 FL should this boat have trim tabs? How many 205 owners are running trim tabs?
Thanks HMT

Trim tabs are optional, they are pricey but if you have listing problems or want to compensate for passengers moving around while underway they the investment may be justified, but if you are looking to compensate for the wrong prop for your application then it makes more sence to purchase the correct prop for your usage.

Look at "Smart Tabs". There bring your boat on plane faster and is much cheaper.

i did a test when I had them and they did not extend untill i was below 15 to 17 mph anything above that they were retracted fully. I never experianced any more use of fuel or anything negative about them.

I have trim tabs, and honestly dont think I would ever do without now. I think the cost is worth whatever you may pay! We lost use of them one time because of a blown fuse that I couldnt find at the time, it was terribly annoying. I was so happy when I found a blown fuse by the battery. I guess it got wet from one of the kids standing over the battery storage area dripping wet.

your right there is no substitute for real controlable trim tabs, but for a cheap and easy instalation smart tabs to help with bow rise at low speeds and quicker to plane.
