I vote for SST all the way (3 blade for me). On several boats I have seen better acceleration, and top end 5-7% better. But what has not been mentioned here is the lifespan of the prop. I have never had to replace a SST prop.

The last prop I bought was a Michigan 3-blade SST. I put it into service 18 years ago on my Chaparral, and this year I had it re-hubbed to install on my Four Winns H240. Still in great shape even though I do a lot of boating on waterways with a lot of "obstacles" floating or submerged branches, sandbars, etc. For me, an Aluminum prop is only in good shape for a couple years, then performance suffers because of dings, scratches, bends, etc.

I have never had a rubber hubbed SST prop cause any damage to drive gears, but they are so tough that I don't see any need for a spare prop with SST, but would always carry one if I was using aluminum.

Has anyone used the Apollo? Don't know much about Michigan Wheel. The reviews seem to be good overall. Any opinions between the Merc 4 and this one?
