I have a 92 sundowner cuddy 195, has a decent prop on it (has a small nick in one blade and a slight roll to another), but the lake we run has some obstructions and i was going to get a new prop and keep this one for a spare incase of trouble. now, i use this boat to cruise, ski, and tube, it needs a lil more low end power to plane out quicker, what would be the ideal prop for this situation? not looking for a speed demon, but i want it to get up and out quick |

it has the cobra 4.3 V6, not sure what prop is on it, it may be the best i gonna get, i just wanted to know what the pros thought was the best, also, i going with a ss prop, i've run alumn on other boats and SS is the only way to go |

Yes SS is the only way to go. According to Four Winns you have a 14.5x19 prop on there from the factory. Can you read what's on your boat currently? If you're out to get the best, I'd get a Mercury Marine High Five and get the appropriate hub pressed in to fit your spline. You'll loose +/- 5mph top speed but you'll be able to yank out stumps. I think you have a 15 tooth spline and can us the same prop as an Evinrude/Johnson through hub exhaust prop. If that's the case if someone can verify I'd browse around the outboard forums you might find something already put together. |

The 'Squeeze Casted' alloy 4 blade Amita prop's from Solas are a great performing item for the price. They are a stronger casting process than many OEM prop's and will be far more forgiving than SS, if you hit a submerged object. It increased my top speed by 5mph when I fitted one to my Horizon 180RS!

I have a SS on my FW listed below. However, I have had "oldtimers" say that they would rather replace a prop than the gear in the drive because they hit somthing. Not sure how much truth it holds but if you think about it, it kinda makes sence. SS dont bend as easy as Al. But I am sure that other folks who are far more knowlegable on here can steer you in the right direction. |

just went and looked, it has a Solas 14 3/4 * 17 on it now, do i need higher or lower pitch to get a fellow outta the water faster? will also add, with the current prop, the boat will easily exceed 6000 rpm, if that makes a huge differance |

You're already propped lower then anyone would recommend giving you the best holeshot possible and with that rev of 6000rpms you've considerably shortened the lifespan of your engine. Maximum safe redline on a non-vortec V6 is 4500rpms. Kiss your engine goodbye, it's a gonner. |

since it is propped lower than recommended, what does it need to be? i know not to run it over 4500 rpm, i am new to inboard/outboard boats, not motors (lol) thanks for the recommendation though i am looking for specifics on what is needed, if i gotta live with something worse to take care of the boat, i will, but i need to know what it should be, cuz right now i got what i got and know it ain't what its supposed to be! |

You need more horsepower. No prop is going to give you more low end than what you have now. You own a cruising boat. Not made to tow |

Not made to tow i am gonna get another prop so i have an onboard spare so... - are saying stick with what i got and use it as a spare, and new prop needs to lose some pitch to make the ole girl last longer and cruise better? - get the exact same thing i already got for a spare and run with what i got? ( if it gonna tear my motor and unit up, not what i going for) |

To the OP, I would be seriously considering going to a 4 blade prop, assuming yours is currently 3 blades? |
