I have a 1997 sundowner 205 and ther is water leaking in the cabin,It's comming from the front part on the floor,I pulled the carpet back and there is a small drain hole, once I pulled the carpet back the water flowed out, there is a closed compartment that collects water.but how's it getting in there. The anchor locker drain hole is not blocked.

Any help appreciated,if I new how to post a picture I would.

Lots of threads on this one. Almost every Sundowner with wet cabin issues is because of a leaky anchor locker or water moving forward from the bilge via drain holes in the bulkheads that seperate the engine compartment from the fuel tank compartment to the ski locker to the cabin.

Anchor lockers tend to leak from deteriorated seams and the fact that the drain hole is usually 1-2 inches above the lowest part of the locker. Water moving foward is usually because water left in the bilge moves forward due to gravity.

Fixes that have been posted on the forums have included re-sealing the locker, using spray foam, and/or epoxy. Water moving forward issues have been solved by ensuring all the water is out of the bilge, or if trailering, ensure the hullplug is pulled and the trailer is elevated high enough to let the water drain and prevent it from moving forward.
