Hello All, I am new to the forum (and mostly new to any online forums) so aplogies if I don't know all the etiquette. I guess this is as much an intro to also seeing if my "signature" works correctly.

Anyways, my name is Corey, i'm 32 and have owned my 1993 Sundowner 215 for three summers now. I have put twice as much money into the boat than I bought it for (by design). I love tinkering with things but am by no means a mechanic. In fact I barely know anything. I am reading through my Seloc book but it is a different language than I understand. Mostly waay over my head. I have come to this site not only for advice but also for boating companionship, to admire everyones boats, boat projects, and to share my love for boats and more specifically Four Winns.

I look forward to chatting and sharing info eventhough I won't be much help to anyone with my vast lack of knowlege admittedly.

Welcome! Always like seeing new Sundowner owners join up. This is my 2nd summer with mine and so far I love it. Looks like you accomplished all the things as far as etiquette (ya even spelled it right :P ), name, boat info, location, etc. Oh, there is one other thing tho....ya gotta post pics of your boat.

Welcome,

When I got my first Sundowner some 12 years ago I knew nothing about modern boats, their construction foibles, engines and outdrives. I assumed they had advanced in terms of build quality like cars had since the 1970s/ 1980s. The manual I bought was full of baffling information and even a stupid colour section showing me what simple tools looked like, but wasn't really that informative in key areas ( it claimed to cover engines/ drives to 2000, but in reality it was to 1998; mine was a 1999 !). Still. experienced in car mechanics, I persevered.

I's been a fun but at some times frustrating learning experience; especially the "why on earth did they do that way" sort of thing. The application of common sense though will solve 95% of any issues you come across. Common sense plays no part in the way boat builders make boats for ease of service by their owners.

Welcome, it's always nice to see someone that admires and maintains some of Four Winns older boats. After two years of work I have been logging some miles on my 1992 Sundowner 225 this summer. Previously I had a 1989 Sundowner 205. I am Canadian and boat primarily on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. It's big water where things can get nasty and fast but I have complete confidence out there with both my skills and my boat. Thye only thing I plan on doing this fall is to install some Bennett Trim Tabs. If anyone out there has had any expereince with these good or bad and I loove to hear from you. For those interested, pictures of my boat in various stages of restoration are posted at: http://pinterest.com/rickcrouch/boat-restoration/
