It would help all of us if you created one thread about this project boat. That way we (and you) can keep track of all the moving parts. Creating different threads for each piece/part creates confusion for those who may not have read your first post about this boat.

What size 2BBL?
What size 4BBL?
What boat?
What engine?

I too, suggest you keep it to one thread - much easier for everyone.

Yes it is, absolutely. However, the questions generated will be towards you, for example, if someone hasn't seen your first post about this boat and only see this one (about the carb), they will ask what type engine, what size boat, how old, etc. This leads to you having to answer the same question over and over.

One suggestion that helps is to include all the relevant info in your signature line (see mine for example). Here is an excellent example of a restoration thread from Jdpber: http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11136

As to your carb question, depends what you want this boat to do. Do you want a cruiser, a fast boat, pull skiers/tubers? The 2bbl can do all the above as can the 4bbl. Gas mileage might come into play. Also, is the replacement engine the same 470 merc or something different?

If it were a bunch of questions about different aspects - what cleaner to use, how to repair upholstery, etc - then different threads (might) be warranted. But every question about your engine getting a different thread is a little overkill... Which leads to less people willing to help.

And posting in all caps, being impatient, and getting frustrated causes even more people to be willing to ignore and not want to help. You will find good help and great information from this forum. Give it time to let those who know get around to answering you.

I would certainly try it out with the 2 barrel, and avoid any changes while under warranty. I am pushing my 24' horizon with a 2 barrel 5.7 and it does just fine. You can always change it after the warranty is up, but as mentioned above, we would need a lot more info to be able to tell you if you would get any benefit from the 4 barrel. In general, a 2 barrel has plenty of capacity as these marine engines are run at less than 5000rpm.
