The picture you provided is a custom made bracket kit sold by an eBay seller. There is no part number. You can try contacting them to see if they will sell you just the bracket.

You're not understanding. There is no part number for the bracket because it never had a part number. That bracket you pictured is made in someone's garage. You can try contacting them on eBay if they will just sell it to you without buying the whole $400 kit since you already have an MARINE alternator (right?).

The alternator conversion for the 488 was never an official Mercruiser offering. 3rd party companies make this conversion kit, and well.. there's a bunch of different ones out there. The specific picture you provided is made by an eBay seller out of his garage. If you want that specific piece in that picture, you'll have to contact him on eBay and cross your fingers he'll sell it to you without selling you the whole $400 kit.

found another one off ebay, same as mine, looks like the second (lower) bracket isnt even necessary. I'm not missing anything. Bolting mine up today and measuring for belt size, need a belt too. Thanks for your help

Um, yes it's necessary. Without it, you can't tension the belt and the alternator flops in the wind.

Ric is correct. the bottom bracket actually holds the alt in place and the top is the the adjustment for belt tension. I can't tell by the picture but I think the bracket is the only place the alt actually bolts. It doesn't look like there are any other bolts in the back.
