Looks like the pump that works the faucet and transom shower went out and needs to be replaced on my 2004 Sundowner 205. Anyone mess around with one of these before? Any tips for replacing it myself?

I replaced mine on my old Sundowner. Mine was very difficult to get to, I had to hug the exhaust riser to reach it back on the transom where it was mounted. Other than that it wasn't too difficult. I did put a new style strainer on it. The old one had part on the inlet hose and the other part screwed onto the pump. You had to push and turn the inlet hose to remove the filter and it was hard. The new style had two connections to the hose and pump and there was a screw in bowl/screen on the bottom. Much easier to use.

Are the connections threaded or are they threaded and have the "shark bite" style fittings that you just push in. You might be able to take the shark bite connections off and take the whole pump out and replace the threaded fittings on the pump on a workbench.
Use Teflon tape on the plumbing fittings. The electrical connections if spliced should have liquid tape or similar product to prevent corrosion then taped with good electrical tape for ignition protection if in the bilge.
My pump has tabs that are screwed down and you slide the pump into the tabs so its a piece of cake to take out.

Its simple, 2 wires and two hoses. The hard part is getting at it.

I moved the one on my 2004 245 Sundowner to make it easier to service; it never needed it ! The plumbing connectors were the same as on my 2009 Vista; quick release coupling at the pump; a tab that needs to be pulled back and the coupling with O ring just pulls out.

Thanks for the tips. Probably one of the easier projects Ive done lately. Now if this crappy weather would move on and the water temp would get over 51 degrees, we can start to enjoy the boating season!
