Can anyone familiar with my vintage Sundowner (1987 215) tell me if there was originally some kind of grate or panel placed over the rectangular opening in front of the door to the cuddy cabin? There are marks that look like something pressed down the edges of the carpet around the hole and it seems like having an open hole in that location presents a hazard.

If there was some kind of cover, anybody have a picture?

Thanks!

Tim

Having had a 1987 Cuddy from a different manufacturer, I can tell you that mine had a hole like you describe. It had an Aluminum "Z" shaped extrusion that was formed into a rectangle, and screwed down around the hole. The lower part of the "Z" made a shelf that a teak board sat on. The teak had grooves cut into it to make it non-slip. I don't remember if it had drain holes.
