hello to all, first post.
loyal fw owner trading a 258 vista down for a sportier cuddy (kids more into watersports vs cruising as older) but still want a good sized boat.

can anyone tell me the min planing speed for a 2000 ish 215, want to see if will be slow enough for little wakeboarders.

thanks in advance,

sam

From memory, the min. planing speed for my '99 225 Sundowner was about 14- 15mph ( GPS), if anything the min. planing speed for my current 245 Sundownere is slightly lower ( but it has trim tabs, which help).

The 2000 215/ 235 Sundowners had a modified hull shape compared to the earlier 205/225. Better or worse for min. planing speed, I don't know, but judging by the nomenclature, they reverted to the earlier hull shape in 2002 or 2003!

we regularly wake board behind my 205 with 260hp ( now known as 215 for some reason).
it needs a lot of weight forward to keep a good wake and stay on the plane, at around 18mph, for us, though this usually involves about 8 people on board, which is way too much weight aft.
its not ideal, but then its not really what the boats designed for. try fishing / overnighting offshore whale watching from a dedicated ski/wake boat !
