Hi,

does anyone know how to remove the backrest seat from my 245 sundowner. For some reason it has loosened and I have been trying to find out how I can remove it so I can re-tighten it.
Thanks

From what I've found with other bits of trim on the 245, I'm pretty sure there would be some studs mounted onto the backing plate of the backrest and nuts/ large washers in the engine compartment cover. The "noise insulation foam" would have to be peeled away/ stuck back down with a spray contact adhesive and the nuts might be awkward to get at because of the proximity of the storage lockers. You might find it easier to remove the pin holding the hatch opener to the engine cover and prop the cover up almost vertically, so you can see what you are doing.

For a reason I don't understand, FW don't seem to use nyloc nuts (with a few exceptions like the swim platform ladder), so most things attached with studs/ nuts down come loose with time! As they do, I replace the nuts with nyloc ones.

Seating is often held in place with a bracket from the fiberglass into the plywood back of the seat. Then there's usually a screw through the front of the seat (usually buried in crease). Feel deep into the seat creases looking to find the screw head. Once that screw is out the seats usually pop upward and off.
