I own a 1989 225 SD. Now I understand that the hull is completly different than yours, but I like the trim tabs just to level out the boat if it is loaded heavier on one side than the other. Or if in rough water on Lake Michigan, I can give it some tab and smooth things out a little at the exspense of a little more drag. I wouldn't be without tabs.

I thought I'd post a pic of what the Smart Tabs look like on my Sundowner - only marginally improved hole shot, an minimal impact on cruising on plane. A cheaper alternative to hydraulic tabs, but not a solution to my problem....

That isn't where the factory fit the Bennet tabs; they are fitted inboard of that and in line with the V of the hull, with about 1/3 of the width underneath the "pods. Your's are fitted aft of the "pods" so may well be less effective.

What rpm's do you achieve at wide open throttle? Should be in the 5000 range. If you are only getting lower 4000's it might be time to drop the prop down it pitch. Going with a 4 blade stainless would help. http://www.hillmarine.com hard to beat there price.

Funny - I fussed a lot about where to install them, and checked out forums and all the pictures I could find, and I saw most had installed tabs near the outermost edge of the transom. I wondered about installing them inboard, but opted to go with the majority. I wonder if there would be any measureable difference? I had a challenge installing them where I did, due to the curvature at that point in the transom, and the placement of the support struts for the swim platform...

Did I screw up? Where do others have them?

I can well imagine it was difficult to fit the tabs/ cylinders where you have!. It must be pretty turbulent/ a low pressure area just aft of the pods.
