Hi All, I have a 1988 Sundowner with a omc cobra outdrive. 5.0 v8. I removed the manufacturer bold from the outdrive and had to remove it to replace the backing plate. Now that I have the outdrive off I am seeing this gel like substance in one of the ports. See photo. Can/should I clean all the gel out of this port? Also since the outdrive is out is there any other maintenance I can do while I wait for the gaskets, bushings and new pin. Thanks I guess I cannot post a photo. It is refusing my link..... |

are you boating in salt water or water with a lot of dissolved minerals? could it be old dried up grease? I'd clean it out... |
