When I bought my boat, the cooler was missing. I replaced it with the Igloo model listed in the Four Winns parts catalog (36 Quart, model 6778). Here's my dilemma: the cooler sits too low. I've placed an old life vest underneath to raise it, but I think that originally there must have been some type of platform or mount beneath the cooler to keep it flush with the bottom of the seating area.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,
Kevin

Is this stored under the seat on the port side, like on my 225?

Yes, it's on the port side. Thanks.

My wife just confirmed, there are two verticle wooden "rack" things that the cooler sits on. I will try and get a pic later today since I am messing with the boat today.

Thanks so much, I appreciate it. With your help, I can re-create the missing piece.

Thanks again,
Kevin

I looked at the FW parts website, http://www.fourwinns.net and click on parts, but I couldn't locate it. Here are the pics, as promised.

Kevin, I have the exact same boat as you - same year, make, model and colour!! I still have the original cooler, and it sits right in the compartment, but there is no rack or mount in mine - cooler just sits on the carpet, and its the right height for storing and removing.... but if your replacement doesn't fit properly, theres no harm in installing something. Just watch how long your screws are!!

Thanks so much, Firecadet. My cooler compartment looks exactly the same. I have to get down to the slip to see if there are screw holes on the bottom.

Swansea, do you have the same Igloo 36 Quart cooler? If so, maybe Four Winns changed the design a bit, because my cooler and its handles sit quite low.

Thanks again to both of you. Firecadet, I appreciate your taking the time to take and send the photos and for looking in the Four Winns catalog (I did that too and found nothing).

Have a great weekend, both of you.

Kevin

How low does your cooler sit? Ours is low in there, but I can get my finger in on the side enough to pop the lid open.

It sits very low. The brochure photos show the handles fitting into the handle recesses. My handles slip right past and below the recesses.

My guess is thats too low. Our handles are about even at the top of the recess, real easy to grab.

It's baffling. If I have the correct cooler -- and I do according to the Four Winns parts list and a personal e-mail from Four Winns -- then my cooler should sit with the handles in the recesses as yours does. When I have a chance I'll remove my cooler to see if for some reason mine requires a standoff like yours does.

In any event, thank you for your time and good information. I'll post again when I have more info on my cooler situation (this should be my biggest problem!).

Have a nice weekend.

Kevin

Not sure what size mine is, but like Firecadet, I can open mine when is in the compartment, and I can grab the handles easily. Sounds like yours is too low and needs propping up. Good luck!
