Hi everyone, I was wondering if any of you Sundowner owners can tell me what the max Hull weight that is acceptable in your boat? We have a '92 sundowner and this weekend we ento out and tried to pull an intertube with 3 small kids, and we had 5 adults on board. The boat was barley moving we could not get it past 10 mile per hour. then when it was just the two of us id drove fine, is that too much weight or maybe something with the fuel? the boat says max of 10 people or 1450 lb, and I don't think we had that much weigh on it. thanks for any advice

Which Sundowner do you have....205? that weight rating sounds the same as on my 88 Horizon 200 (the Horizons and Sundowners of the 88-92 years shared hulls...Sundowner was just a bit heavier due to the cuddy). At any rate that boat should be able to do what you're trying to do...even with the smallest 4.3 V-6 it should top out at 45 mph....mine has the 4bbl V-6 and it gets along very well....sounds like you need to go through the engine and do a tune up...change fuel filters...and make sure it has the correct prop...I changed mine from a 14 1/2x19 to a 15x17 and it jumps up on plane and easily hits its max rpm (4800).
