Greetings all. Today I became the owner of a 93 Sundowner 215. Its a long story, but I have exactly $100 in this boat. Obviously, there must be something wrong with it. There is. There is no outdrive on it. It is an OMC 5.8. I have a 86 20 ft Bayliner that also has a 5.0L OMC with a Cobra outdrive. Anyone know if these are interchangable? |

Welcome, I believe the outdrive should fit, it just might have a different gear ratio. Just don't tell the Four Winns its off a Bayliner! |

I have been looking around online, and can not believe the prices for the OMC outdrives. And to think, I only paid $700 for the Bayliner. The outdrives alone are goin for anywhere from $3 to $4k. I have to do some research, and see exactly what engine the Sundancer has. I know its a 5.8 EFI Cobra, but seems to me there are options as far as Ford, Volvo-Penta, and GM....I guess I will have to determine that first and foremost. Thankfully, Illinois weather will require another 3+ months before I even start thinking about boating. |
