I'm new to the forum but have been reading posts for a while. Great information and I appreciate it. Question I have is I bought a 2003 Sundowner 245. Has anyone added a winch for the anchor? If yes, how did it look after being installed, how difficult was it to install? Thanks and keep up the great posts

I installed one on my 2001 285, a Lewmar vertical. I'm not sure how the 03 245 is, but the 01 285 has a door/cover over the anchor locker, I was able to put it under the cover so you can not see it. As for how hard it was to install, it took a good part of a day, and being hot out didn't help any either. The books say you can use the Four Winns wiring, not true with the bigger windless! So I had to run wires from batt to switch to the windless, thats what took so long. If I was to do it again I'd go with the horizontal. I did make a board to mount the windless too.
