Hello everyone. New to the site, as I just purchased a 93 Sundowner 215...The boat is in pretty good shape, and I cant wait to get this on the water. I drained the old fuel, installed 2 new batteries, and changed the plugs. I got it to start, but it searches for a constant idle rpm. It goes from about 1200 down to 700, back to 1200...and so on and so forth. When I accelerate, it does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? I am getting ready to take this thing to a mechanic, but it sure seems like it must be something small. |

Could be a whole range of things as it sounds like it may have sat around for a while. My initial guess is maybe the carb needs an overhaul - gaskets dry out and it sucks in air etc. Best to let your mechanic have a look at it first as it may not be the carb so might work out cheaper to have him troubleshoot the problem rather than replace things randomly. |

This boat is fuel injected. If it was carb, I would have already rebuilt it, just as a precautionary measure. |

If its TBI check your base gaskets, could be a vacum leak, fuel filter. |
