Hello everyone. New to the site, as I just purchased a 93 Sundowner 215...The boat is in pretty good shape, and I cant wait to get this on the water. I drained the old fuel, installed 2 new batteries, and changed the plugs. I got it to start, but it searches for a constant idle rpm. It goes from about 1200 down to 700, back to 1200...and so on and so forth. When I accelerate, it does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? I am getting ready to take this thing to a mechanic, but it sure seems like it must be something small.

Could be a whole range of things as it sounds like it may have sat around for a while. My initial guess is maybe the carb needs an overhaul - gaskets dry out and it sucks in air etc. Best to let your mechanic have a look at it first as it may not be the carb so might work out cheaper to have him troubleshoot the problem rather than replace things randomly.

This boat is fuel injected. If it was carb, I would have already rebuilt it, just as a precautionary measure.

If its TBI check your base gaskets, could be a vacum leak, fuel filter.
