Whats your top speed on your boat. Include the motor and size of boat. 1997 FW Sundowner 205 W/ Volvo Penta 5.7 Fuel Injection, DUO Props. Mine will do 48 MPH w/ 3 people. I'm just curiouse at what kind of speed everyone else is getting out of theres. Is 48 about normal? I just thought that it would go a little fast w/ the 5.7 and fuel injection. |

I'm not sure that I would take my boat that fast even if it did go that fast. ![]() |

Our 97 245 Sundowner had the 280hp Volvo (5.7) with the F6 props and would just tickle 50mph (gps) with the canvas down, two people, 1/2 tank of fuel, flat water and the best trim on the drive. |

My (or rather, our) 1999 225 with the 280 HP 5.7 GSi did 52 mph on the GPS ( once, with perfect conditions, glass like ocean). Our 2004 245 with the 5,7 GXi 320 HP will do about 46-47 mph (GPS). It gets used a lot less than the earlier boat due to the c**p weather for the last 4 years, so it always has had a full tank of fuel and some chop to contend with. No idea what our next boat will do; mentioned a 278 Vista with a 300 hp volvo D4 diesel to my wife the other day, she asked whether we needed something bigger than that; I was, shall we say, taken aback! Now, there's that brand new leftover 2006 378 (I think) with IPS drives still for sale in the UK at 2/3 the list price ; no, too big and still too expensive Graham |

1989 205 sundowner with thye 5.0 HO 200 HP I managed to get the gauge to read 45mph. Forgot to take the GPS with me, and that was my first time ever operating a boat in my life, so I have no idea if I could get any more out of it or not. BTW that was with 2 adult and 2 teens in the boat. |

A 255 Sundowner with a 320 HP 5.7 L engine running F3 props I was able to reach 44 mph. Two persons, half fuel at an elevation of 3,600 ft. If I ever get the boat down to sea level I should be able to get to 45 or 46 mph. |

I have a 270hp 5.7l engine and I can go 36 mph MAX, on a good day, wind behind me, no water in freshwater tank, 1/2 tank fuel, and going with the current. Not to mention my boat is a 1991 too. (heavier? different hull design?) I am re-propping from a 15.25" x 15p to a 15" x 17p. My WOT RPMS are in the middle of the range, so I figure if I lost 200 RPMS, I'd still be in the recommended range. And maybe I'd gain a little speed! |

Question: My boat is a 1997 w/ the fuel injected 5.7 liter. On the Website it says my motor has either 250 or 220 HP. How is it that your 91 has 270? Did you do upgrades? |
