I recently bought a 245 sundowner. To date I love it but I have a question. Has anyone ever gotten water from cleaning or rain forward underneath the cuddy floor. The manual says run at a significant angle and it will run aft and be pumped overboard by the bilge. Well that didn't happen. Maybe a piece of something clogged the run out hole. I don't know. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate the help. |

I've never got any water under the cuddy floor on my 2004 245. I know though that there is a limber hole at the base of the bulkhead between the engine and fuel tank of mine that water can flow freely in and out of. First thing to check is whether that one is blocked, it's easy! Any bulkheads further forward would also have such a hole, I imagine. It does sound like there's a blockage; on mine, the floor section in the cockpit is removeable, which would then allow the ski locker tub to be removed to reveal the bulkheads fore and aft of it. My 1997 245 had a problem with water in the underseat storage areas in the cuddy, under the cushions. I don't think there is a drain from that area on my boat. I sealed the bottom of the anchor locker with silicone sealant and fixed that problem. I'm not sure if that's the area you are talking about. I've never had any water forward of the under floor ski locker. I have cleaned the ski locker and it drains freely to the bilge. (Well it is supposed to anyway!) |

The ski locker on mine also drains into the bilge area. Graham |

Thanks to all and your tips. Finally got a hold of someone at FW and they said anchor locker as well. As it turned out it wasn't the anchor locker or a clogged limber hole. There is limber hole in the forward bulkhead. But it seems as if under the table base it has been left to the carpet alone to keep the water out. So the rain water from the trailer sitting bow down accumulated underneath. trailer parked on a steep grade bow down let me collect a lot of water with a shop vac. Will use it as is then put a dehumidifier in this fall. Hope this helps any others who may encounter such problem before they remove all the decks aft. Although it is nice to see how well the rest of the boat looked. Fell closer now with the boat. Thanks all |

Glad you got it sorted. Mine hasn't got a table mount in the cuddy, only in the cockpit. When it's on a trailer over the Winter, it's always jacked up and on stands, so the drain in the stern is the lowest point and it's afloat all "Summer", so the engine bilge is the lowest point. A combination of "lucky" factors has kept water our of the forward bilge it seems! Graham |
