Post subject:  Gauge replacement question

I purchased my first boat this summer. It is a 1989 Sundowner 225. There were a few minor issues with it so I am replacing a few parts and adding a second battery. One of the issues is that the tachometer does not work. The dial has no movement when the engine is running. It is the original gauge from '89. I took it out and it is a Kysor / Medallion, model no. STK-210. The dash has a separate flat glass panel under the outer panel. Is there anyone out there who has replaced one or more gauges on this type of dash setup? I'm trying to find a suitable replacement gauge. I've been unable to find a similar gauge on the web. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A picture of your Tach might help. Teleflex makes a line of gauges similar to the KM tach you have. Sometimes the tach just needs to be re-calibrated. It could also just be the sensor at the engine control box.

Here is a trouble shooting guide for the Series II gauges (if that is what you have)

Otherwise, contact Medallion direct. I just had lunch with one of their engineers last Thursday, had I known of your issue, I could
have asked him.
