I just bought my first boat. I am anxious to get her out on the water!!! I bought through a reputable Sea Ray dealer in Delaware, OH. He is no longer selling Four Winns, he stopped being a dealer in 2008 for them. Can anyone tell me how where to get parts for the trim that surrounds the guages? For some reason this gray colored trim is bubbling up around the gauges and doesnt look very good. I am not trying to be too particular, but this is the only thing i have noticed to be wrong with the boat. It may also help me when I need other parts. I will post pictures soon..... Thanks! |

Welcome, not too many of us Sundowner owners around here. You can lookup Four Winns part number on their web site http://www.fourwinns.com/service/past_product. Most any dealer can sell you parts, not sure where you are located. |

Thanks! I will check it out. I am located in Columbus, Ohio. These boats are sure hard to find online, seem pretty rare in the US anyway. |

Tell me about it. I went all the way from IN to PA to buy my 225. On the trim, are you talking about the trim ring around each individual gauge, or the panel that the gauges all sit in? |

I am talking about the panel that the buttons and ignitions sit in. I looked on the website and couldnt find it under any of the catagories. I kept saying guages, but those are actually in the fo wood grain panel. The ignition sits in a gray colored panel. Thanks for the help! |

........also, I am planning on pulling this boat with a 2010 Honda Pilot 4WD. Do you see any major issues? The book says this boat is about 3400lbs. My Pilot has a 5000lb towing capacity. Can't wait to get it out of storage in one week! |

Welcome! I have a 97 Four Winns 205 Sundowner. Love the boat, and think your will as well. I am not sure how far you are willing to drive but there is a Four Winns Dealer in Fairfield Ohio. The dealer is called Lodders Marine, I have used them a few times and they stand by there work. As far as your tow vehical, you might have a little trouble on the hills. Your boat is 3400lbs and the trailer is probably another 800-900 pounds. When you add gear and people you will be close to your max-towing capacity ok 5k. I tow mine with a 06 Tacoma. I have a 6500lbs towing capacity and can def feel it back there. My MPG drops to about 8-10 mpg. I would just make sure the Pilot has a trans oil cooler and take it easy. Hope all goes well, if you have any more questions feel free to ask. GL. |

Thanks, I will try Lodders. I finally found another FW dealer in Delaware also, so I have two local options. I did check and all 2010 Pilots come standard with the trans oil cooler, so that should help. I am thankful there arent too many hills near central Ohio. Does having a tandem axle trailer help with towing any? I would think that would put less weight on the tongue. Thanks, J |

Thanks, J From my experience the only thing that a tandom axel trailer does is help the trailer track better behind the tow vehical. Single axels have a tendency to sway more than a tandom and are less stable at speed. I also think it is easier to back up a tandom trailer but some people disagree (kind of a personal preference). My trailer is only a single axel and it gets the job done, but I would have prefered for it to be a tandom. As far as putting less weight on the tongue I dont think it really changes that to much when having a tandom axel. As long as you dont load the boat up to much in the cuddy w/ gear th trailer is pretty well balanced. |

Thanks for the information on the trailer, looks like I thought wrong. Hopefully, it wont be too bad on my Pilot. I definately dont want to bog it down too much. I know if I am going on some longer trips with the boat I will have to borrow my friend's suburban. I did get the camper canvas with mine. I wanted to make sure I could extend the boating season a little. Should make it possible to do some boating next weekend if I am lucky enough!! |
