:D Wow guys thanks again for the great info. I am trying to find a welder for the tank, getting some new stuff on the trailer and getting rid of the oxidation on the gel coat (gel coat is in surprisingly decent shape for its age).
I am excited to get it on the water to see how she'll do.
Any advice on these boats? Each boat seems to have a particular "thing" to it...are there any for the SD 195? ie...dont trim it too far down while WOT or...it slides through a turn instead of cutting...
From what I can tell, pretty much all Four Winns boats turn good. Mine will toss you out of the boat if you're not careful. Times are tough, call around. I know a local tig welder here that's really cheap that's done work for me on my motorcycle, so I'm sure you have someone like that around you. I would still shop around, there's plastic tanks in 1000s of sizes all over the net.
Trim? Pretty much all stern drives it's standard. From a stop = drive down. On plane or WOT = trim up to the point where it's not cavitating, but if you go any higher it is. I got rid of my trim gauge for something more important cause at least on my boat.. if the drive is too far down at cruise/wot it will spit up water next to the transom. When it's trimmed good those go away.
