This is a placeholder for all things V338. Welcome aboard!

Well, what brought you guys to the V338? I originally intended to purchase a 318 last year and decided to hold off. I'm sure glad I did; I spent less on a leftover 338 then I had priced out on a 318 similarly equipped last year.

When speaking to dealers, many said it was their favorite boat out of the 3xx lineup. It came to production after the 318 and 348 and therefore got the best of both worlds. The most headroom, the seating forward of the galley, nicest transom storage locker.. they're may be more.. I *think* it has the tallest arch. I'm just a single guy so the 318 would have been plenty of boat. But with the 338 you get the speed of the 318 and the spaciousness of the 348/358.

We've got a 348. Had the 338 been available we'd have probably gotten it instead. It really does have the best of the 318 and 358 combined.

I almost forgot, the 338 has a corian counter top
vs FG in the other two. Another nice touch is the
railing around the range.
Jnizi and tekker come on in and post some pics!

Congrats to all 338 owners!!

After seeing my "boat fund" depreciate by about 40%, I've decided that the purchase will have to be a few years down the road. Still, I'm green with envy, and want everyone to share their experience with this vessel. This way, it'll be a reminder why I want/need a 338!

What I like about the 358 is the larger head with the separate shower so that the entire head doesn't have to get wet if you shower.

True, but the floor is shared between them. So while the whole counter and cabinet doesn't get sprayed, feet still get wet. And annoyingly the level of the floor isn't quite right for draining all the water when at rest. Get up on plane and the remaining water hits the drain. I keep a squeegee handy to push the water to the drain. There are compromises...

And Actually (although I haven't yet taken a shower in the boat) there is a full height shower curtain that closes you off from the sink area, so it's just about the same thing as the 348/358 - the entire head does not get wet. Ie. someone can use the sink while the other is showering. I'm going to be so spoiled because showering in the 248 was TIGHT and I'm not big!

The only thing to be careful about in the 338 shower is filling the toilet while you shower. We bought a vinyl seat cover to put over the bowl to prevent shower water from filling'er up.

You can save a lot of water taking showers with the water running only when necessary, not all the time like at home. This is a sailor's trick, mainly because getting freshwater can be VERY expensive when out on the islands. That and it requires electricity to run the water pump. Being cheap bastards, the ragbaggers want to waste neither. On our 348 we've never run into the toilet getting water in it. The lid seems to keep it out. That and I'm big enough to probably block any water getting over there anyway.

Anybody have issues with their cherry steps? See

Well she's in the water. Spent Friday learning to drive twins while fighting 30 mph gusts. Love the control :D Will have to learn to fight the need to turn the wheel. She topped out at over 45 mph but since I was fighting the wind and current, I will have to confirm if this is normal.

Spent the night on-board. Love the room and all the storage. Slept like a baby. Found no issues with the shower. We have drains in 2 corners and within a few minutes, all the small puddles were gone.

Here are a few pix. Found no issues with the steps considering its a 2007 and there is normal wear and tear.

Had to leave early yesterday to attend my high school reunion (30 years can't have flown by) but will be back on board next weekend. Hoping the weather will be in our favor. The river is very high and we have a few more inches of rain forecast this week.

Great post! I know what you mean about going to twins from the single, it's quite strange to not touch the wheel. And I was sweating since we had a constant 20-25mph wind in a tight channel. Can't wait to see your pics later today (at the office I can't see photobucket pics). That's also great news to hear about the shower. I head down south today for the summer and I'm going straight to the marina to have a look. Hopefully the boat arrives in about a week.

I was reading the 348/358 transom locker woes in another thread. It appears they made improvements to the 348 locker on the 338. No shelf taking up space. I was impressed. But does it keep out the water? I really hope it doesn't warp!
