Hi,

Is there a variable thermostat on my heater tank ? (FW 358 2008)
I removed the cover yesterday and did not saw any adjustable screw. As per the diagram sticker its a static thermostat (can not be ajust) is it possible?

Water is very very very hot, so hot that it make a pression in the tank and the check valve let some water getting out.

Any idea how to reduce the temperature.
Nah I do not have my heater tank model... this week end I will write it down.

Assuming you have a heater that can be run from both shore power and engine coolant/heat exchanger.......
If your hot water heater has a 110 or 240 volt high temperature limiter - might as well replace it. If you have a heat exchanger from the engine then the hot water tank is going to be influenced by the engine coolant temperature and you can't control that.
Once you are satisfied with the heater's output and safety you might still find the water output is too hot. Fit a thermostatic mixing valve in the water lines exterior to the tank.

On some of the cheaper tanks, they are fixed temp aquastat. I had a Attwood and called them up and they told me "No". You can and a mixing valve to it. OR, up-grade the tank. I only leave it on for 10min or so because, yes I have seen the relief valve open at times too.

I upgraded my tank to a unit that has both the inner and outer tanks in stainless steel which should last a lot longer than the cheaper models with aluminum tanks and mild steel cases. I put a mixer valve on the external plumbing.

Its probably a "cheap" tank without thermostat.
Will take some pics this week and investigate further

Not to be a *&^%. All tanks have an aquastat (thats what there called) with out it, the water would boil. Becuase there would be nothing to shut it off other than the breaker. The problem I have always had that they use a "fixed" one so the temp can not be changed.

On our 348 the engine coolant lines also run through the water heater tank. When the engines are running the water gets QUITE hot in the tank. There isn't a way to adjust this.

Using an external thermostatic mixer is probably the only way to avoid having that hotter water. It'd be a valve in-line with the hot and cold tubing that added cold when it senses the hot as being above a certain point. It'd certainly be a useful thing to add.
