Norris Lake extends 73 miles up the Clinch River and 56 miles up the Powell River. It has 750 miles of shoreline, and 50 miles of island shoreline giving a total of 800 miles of shoreline. The maximum width of the lake is 1.2 miles with a surface area of 34,200 acres.

It's good to have you back capt

Oh that's plenty of water for a 435. The day I get my 435 I'm going to name it "That Guy"

Very nice BC, congratulations. :D

Just curious. Who did the delivery and assembly? The dealer or Four Winns? How much work was involved putting the IPS drives back on?

Greg

Monterey does all their testing and R&D at my father's marina. Jack em up, bolt em down. Like doing a sterndrive but horizontal. I'll ask if he can get video next time they're over.

Is there no marina with a travel lift or crane big enough on the lake to lift it off the trailer and launch it? I'm surprised that they had to go through the work of switching trailers just to launch it.

Beautiful boat.

I really like the simply white with blue boot strip. Looks great.

Sorry for the late reply... Let's just say I've been preoccupied :D

FW got the boat to the near by town and the dealer handled the rest. They contracted with a local company to haul, clean and wax the boat and with a Knoxville marina that has an IPS certified tech for the installation. Actual wrenching time to install the drives was 6+ hrs. There was also a mandatory software update that was painfully long at 3 hrs. The whole process was 12-13 hrs

The boat performs very well with the IPS600's and likes a fast cruise of between 26-32 Mph. Minimum planing is about 20 mph but you should see the wake! Top speed with 10 hrs is close to 41 MPH... Not bad for 30000 lbs. of boat and fuel.

Riding on the bow or the rear aft facing rumble seat is a real joy. I hope I can get more people (I can trust) to drive it around. Our only disappointment is that the galley is smaller than the V328. By the way, we sold that boat earlier this week! The boat is a great fit for our type of boating and we're really looking forward to enjoying it.

BC, now that you have over a month under your wake, how is the boat performing and is it meeting your expectations? Would be interested to hear about any gremlins, anything you wish you would have changed, and generally how great the V435 is!!

Sorry for the late reply... haven't been home since I don't know when :D :D :D Overall we are extremely happy with the V435. In my opinion the only other boat that equals this boat is the Formula 45/48 Yacht. It obviously costs a lot more. Favorite features... We love the joy stick docking, private cabins, the cockpit A/C, rear facing seat/sun lounge, electric barbeque, and hydraulic swim platform. We're also very happy with the fuel usage.... essentially the same fuel consumption as the V328 (about 1.2 MPG at cruise). The biggest 'miss' on the boat is the design of the swim platform and specifically the fender storage. Unfortunately when you lower the platform, water completely fills the compartment. There is one of those plastic ~4" access cover plates in the bottom that you can remove to drain most of the water but it's very hard to do given the weight of the water in the compartment. On top of that, with the boat loaded with fuel, water, etc., the compartment doesn't fully drain leaving 4 inches of standing water. FW is aware of the problem and engineering is working on a solution. The idea is good but it just doesn't work like it was intended. We're also a little bit surprised to have a punch list of 45+ items to address. Most of the issues are minor and some of these could even be considered 'improvements' and not problems. As I say though we absolutely love the boat. Four Winns is a GREAT company and the people are all awesome and we know that all the problems will be taken care of in the near future.

Probably... we like to hang out in that area a lot. By the way, did you happen to see the guy surfing the wake of the V435? I think that was the same day, same area. Here is the pic!

He said it was the most amazing wake he had ever surfed!

Bill, Thanks for the update! Truely a BEAUTIFUL boat. wish we could swing one ourselves! Glad to hear that FW is coming thru on your punch list. As an owner with IPS drives, they are truely remarkable, and the diesel engines are so fuel efficient, will never have another boat without them! Have fun and safe boating with that FW Yacht!

I am sure the police would have a different opinion on someone on the swim platform while on plane. Not the safest by any means. Yes he has a life jacket on, but I know here on the Potomac river if someone was on the swim platform while on plane you would be stopped!
