I just finished my second weekend on the boat and while I was out on my swim platform I noticed the rear bilge pump kept kicking on. I shut the engine down and couldn't find any source of moving water in the engine compartment. After turning the engine back on, I noticed water dripping from the drainage channel for the engine hatch into the engine compartment. I touched the water and it was hot! I followed where the water appeared to be coming from and it was coming out of the fresh water engine rinse connection located in the rear locker, then draining into the engine hatch drainage channel, then into the engine compartment. The cap was off, so I screwed the small rubber cap hanging on a chain next to the hose connection and that solved the issue. Is this normal? IS there a more permanent fix, or is the cap solution fine? It seems like an incorrect way to engineer something if so.
Also, it seems that the heater works while under way, but not while plugged into shore power when turned on at the breaker. Does this mean that the water heater is shot?
Lastly, the manual pump head will not pump and water or waste in either wet or dry bowl. Are there seals that needs to be replaced? Is there another solution? What might be involved?

The only thing that comes to mind here is if your swim platform hand shower is on it will trickle down through a drain hole and end up where you describe. I've had my knob twisted just a bit and it did the same thing. If your talking about it feeding back out of your city water input then that's a whole different story, but that wouldn't end up going into your engine compartment

That sounds like a burnt out element...inexpensive and easy to change

The fresh water flush system indeed has a female hose connection mounted on the bulkhead inside the rear hatch. Screwing the plug into it is indeed the intended way to keep water from leaking back though; that's 100% normal, and is the way the factory made it. I can't think of a more simple way to do it, personally.
If the water heater doesn't heat using electricity, then that means that either the breaker is bad, wiring is bad, the water heater thermostat is bad, or the heating element in the water heater is bad. If your water heater is leaking water, or leaking sea water into the fresh water side of the water heater, then that is would mean that the water heater is shot. I'd give it a 99% likelihood that the heating element is the culprit.
