Looking for suggestions for good sounding speakers that will fit in the arch of a 2009 vista 278v
Wondering as well about installing them , best location, and running wires back to amp under seat

Thank you

I used the infinity speakers. We are very happy with them! Fairly easy install.

We're very happy with J&L Audio 6 1/2 speakers we mounted in the arch. They sound better than the Sony 6 1/2 coax that was the OEM speaker, handle plenty of power and have nice crisp highs. They're pricey but worth it.

I mounted in some Kenwoods, so-so speaker similar to our original Clarions. I'm wondering if all of you are having to change the bolt patterns in the arch mounting rings when you switch speakers? We had to for the Kenwood speakers.

Good sounding out on an exposed arch area is a bit of a contradiction. You have to weigh the cost of "better sounding" speakers against the reality of never getting decent sound out of them because of the simple fact that they're OUTSIDE. Then factor the replacement costs. They're going to need to be replaced just as quickly as less expensive speakers.

Also note no two speakers use the same mounting screw hole patterns. So if you go with a given vendor/speaker then you're stuck with that.

The combination of these factors convinced me to not bother replacing my Clarion speakers with anything else.

Wondering for those that have mounted speakers in the arch of a 278v , how much depth is in the arch for mounting speakers and where in the arch did you mount the speakers
Thanks

It is pretty shallow! If memory serves me correctly, there is only right at about 3". The Infinity speakers I mounted, barely fit.

this was on a 268 and needed extra space. I used pvc pipe and cut it it make a spacer. I could not find any spacers that would work without having someone make them. it turned out great. I just need to clean the caulk and find something the pollen will not stick to

sorry can't add a pic

Disregard much of the above, as it is nothing more than fill. I have replaced arch speakers and found much improved sound quality over the Crapion speakers. I too used the Infinity speakers. They are marine rated, and built with much more quality than the OEM speakers and will last for many years, even "outside". You may have to drill one or two extra holes for the replacement speakers, but a six year old can accomplish that without any difficulty, unless you have never actually used a cordless drill before.

If you find the clearance in the arch is not enough for your new speakers, spacers are easy to find and cheap. Here is a link for some spacers should you need them.

Do the speaker replacement, it's easy to do, the sound difference will be very noticeable and you will be glad you did it. Good Luck.

I second any polk audio marine speaker. They sounds great. Infinities are good but I didn't have luck with them lasting in the past.

I have purchased a set of JL 6.5 speakers, wondering where the best location to mount them in the arch of a 2009 278v four winns. Thanks
