I have been looking for a fuel transfer pump and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. What I have found is either, 1) overkill or 2) so cheap looking that I wouldn't want to spend the money on it.

Here's what I am trying to do:

I prefer not to fill up at the lake ... it's robbery. I also prefer not to pull the boat just to fill up (I'm in a slip). What I would like to do, since I use roughly 5-10 gallons of fuel per week is pump the unused fuel out of my PWC at the end of the weekend into the boat fuel tank since I pull the PWC out every Sunday for the week and then re-launch on Friday night.

In essence, I would be using my PWC as a portable gas can.

Before the safety nazis get started ... I know the dangers, and I completely disagree with you. Filling up with a can inevitably causes some fuel to end up in the lake. I don't want that. Outside of that, I trust my own common sense to keep me from torching myself.

I have looked at manual (hand crank) pumps which would be my preference. However, I am not opposed to rigging up an electric fuel pump. I just need about 5'-10' of flexible tubing, both for the in and out tubes.

What comes to mind is the sucking air (non prime) issue. I thought perhaps I could use an outboard fuel line with the bulb to prime the pump.

Anyone else done this? I'm just too cheap to pay $5.00 per gallon for 87 octane. I prefer $2.69 per gallon for 93 octane.

I have the same "issue" at our marina. They do not sell petrol, only cheap diesel but don't object to fuelling petrol boats on the pontoons. I basically use 20 litre Jerrycans (about four and a half gallons) and a syphon pump; takes less than a minute for each Jerry can. There is never any spillage, but of course the jerrycans are higher than the fuel filler/ boat tank

I note you are in Texas, thus you don't have easy access to Princess Auto.. but I think you are looking for something like this ...
http://www.princessauto.com/engines/fue ... -fuel-pump

Do a search at your local auto parts place.. I'm sure they'll have something like this..

HTH,
Neil

If you can get your PWC tank higher than your boat tank all you need is an outboard fuel line with a bulb to get the siphon going.

I have not been on Summit racing web site lately, but a few years back I bought a
Holley impeller style fuel pump that I think would do the trick for you, wire up a cigarette lighter power cord and some cheap fuel line and your golden!

Not sure what the setup is on your ski but you likely have a sending unit. I would probably just lower a small walbro pump into the fill with an ample amount of -6 hose. Run some wire up someplace close by so you have an easy power source. I wouldn't want to sit on a ski and mess with a crank plus if the DNR sees you doing this they may help put your lawer into a new tax bracket. The ran out of fuel excuse may not keep working on a small lake!

Hi powellcrazy, If you want to run your wire out of the release I can offer you just our charger component. It installs below the section at the front side of the shifter and is operated off the 12v outlet utilize. You could then link a conventional USB expansion cable and path it where needed. The charger also has two results so you could power two gadgets if you desired. PM me if you want more information.

I felt the same way! The gas was 25cents more, at times 50cents more. BUT, this is how a NOW look at it.

Your using 10 gals a week, and that's on the high side. At 50cents a gal more, that's 5clams a week. Not to hassled pumping, any dangers, smelling it, getting it on you hands, on your boat and can go on....................... How long would it take if you bought a pump to get your money back?

To add, I use my C.C. and get 3% back on all the gas I buy.
