How the heck do you run the wires aft from the fridge in a 288?
I've had a look and I can see a way to get them rearwards past the shower/head enclosure.....

its not easy but it can be done what I did is remove the cabinet door from the bathrom sink cabinet from there you can see down into the hull under the floor.then from the compartment under the aft birth I ran a flexable rod made for fishing wires ( I am an electrian ) forward into the area under the floor of the bathroom before I did this I taped several loops of string to the end of the fishing rod then measured how far the rod would need to go in then I took a coat hangar made a hook and stuck it down from under the sink and snagged the string and pulled the rod up into the cabinet under the sink and taped the new wires on and pulled them back under the aft birth then drilled a hole the the rear into the bilge and ran the wires across over to where the battery swithes are and installed a new breaker for the fridge

I was recently posed with the same problem. I used flexible rod sections (which screw together for added length referenced in the above reply) and was able to push it through between the compartment for the head and the hull all the way into the cockpit sink area. After pulling the wire (10-2 AWG) from this location to the frig., I ran the wire into and across the bilge then back up the starboard side using the same technique fishing from the breaker location at the helm seat. I connected to the frig breaker there and the frig now works like a charm. I must admit, this took some time, but with help it's doable. What was FW thinking about when they engineered a 14 wire to run the frig? Should have been a recall but after calling a FW tech, he said there were no problems with the way it left the factory  BTW, I purchased my wire online at Genuinedealz.com. Best wishes.

14 gauge wiring for a fridge? How many amps does it draw and how long is the wire run??
I would never use a wire gauge that small for a fridge. There are interactive wire gauge selectors that will tell you what gauge to use based on voltage, amp draw and length of wire runs.
I installed a pair of roof lights on the roof rack on our 98 Jeep. 2 lights 110 watts draw about 9.2 amps. 25 foot run (so long because I would not make a hole in the roof) and used 10 gauge wire.

When they say there were no problems did they even check how hot the wires were after running it for a while? Even if the the wire didn't melt the small terminals can overheat.
