Got a quote from FW for new cockpit upholstery for my 1999 268. Includes "skins" (vinyl only) for helm seat, side panels, and aft U seating. Quote was approx $1500 for all. Has anyone gone this route?
Thanks

I didn't know that was even an option and seems like a steal at 1500.00

That sounds like a great price to me. I actually called my vinyl guy today and was going to drop off all of the vinyl pieces to my 2000 298V and was prepared to pay $3,000+ for vinyl only. Glad I didn't make it by there today and saw this thread. Is that just labor or did that include materials too? Seems kind of low so hopefully others will chime in.

Damn! That boat is either bigger than I thought or you are getting the good stuff. How much a yard and how many yards of vinyl is he estimating?

When you buy a skin you are getting the vinyl already stitched into a seat cover.

This is a big part of the labour cost when getting a guy to re-do your upholstery. Typically he would remove your vinyl seat covers, unstitch them neatly. The individual pieces are used as templates to cut new. The new sections are stitched into seat covers (skins) and they are reinstalled on the foam and seat.

If you really can get the skins for $1,500, you could strip your seats yourself and have the upholsterer simply install the skins. Should save money by cutting down significantly on his labour.

They're made in-house by FW based on your HIN. I had all new glass, side curtains, and aft curtain made to spec on my '99 268 For $1k. I was very surprised they could do this for a '99 at such a good price. Can't hurt to ask if they could do same for '93...

I initially emailed customer service at FW and they forwarded request to dealer. Now I email dealer directly ( Skipper Buds in Marblehead, OH has been very helpful). They ship items directly to you.

I ordered a new cockpit cover for our old Sundowner from Four Winns thru the dealer before we sold it. I was surprised how reasonable it was.
