Hello all!
Taking a 2002 Vista 268 for a test ride Sunday, planning on buying it. The ONLY thing its lacking is the Generator, which i have read a Honda EU2000i works good with. Luckily I already own one.... It has the 315HP 5.7 motor. It has about everything other than the Gen..... It has ac/heat, radar arch, refer, electric flush toilet, etc....

Fresh water, 395 hours on the boat, 3 hours on the motor.... let me know any good or bad thoughts on this please....

find out the total circuity draw. A H2000 seems a bit on the small side especially if a fridge and ac kick on at the same moment. I know my camper needs minimum a 5500 to sustain both surge at the same time without throwing the 30a breaker.

Welcome to you and great luck with the new boat!!

The EU 2000i will perfectly suit your needs. Be aware of what appliances you run all at one time. The only issue we have had is if the microwave and stove top (electric only) were running at the same time. I know it would be the same if the water heater was turned on, but we never use that when we are on the hook since the engine heats the water in the hot water tank too.

Welcome and best of luck on the boat. We use the Honda 2000 on ours when needed. We also installed an inverter and larger house battery system. There may be times when the Honda may not work for heavy start up loads if the Honda is set on "Eco Throttle", but we have used it many times to cook, microwave, or heat water, but only one of these at a time.

Also, curious if the Honda eu2000i will fit in the aft storage on the swim platform. Lastly, do you strap it down on the platform or the bow?y

I'd recommend a 2000 watt contunuous (3000-4000watt surge) true sine wave inverter or inverter/charger. I installed a modified sine wave unit that I am not completely satisfied with. It takes longer to warm something in the microwave, and you might get a humm in a TV's audio or in a 110 volt fan. Most manufacturers do not recommend mounting the inverter in the engine compartment due to heat and possible ignition of gas fumes. I mounted mine in the storage compartment immediately behind the stairs on the port side. Depending on the unit you may need to install a transfer switch to switch from shorepower to inverter power and back. Remember that the inverter will draw a lot of power from the battery bank. An 800 watt microwave draws almost 8 amps on 110 volts, but it requires almost 70 amps from a 12 volt battery. I have 2 large 100 amp hour batteries for the house battery bank. While the inverter is capable, the battery bank will not handle heavy loads for long periods of time. The inverter is great for lighter electrical loads or heavier loads for a brief time. For heavier loads the generator is a much better choice.

Yes, the Honda 2000 will fit in the rear storage compartment with the starting rope side aft. I lay a towel over mine to minimize scuffing and scraping. I use a 6 foot locking cable looped thru the Honda's handle and the hand rail above the storage compartment to keep it in place.
