Hey guys. I just wanted to introduce myself since I will probably rely on many of you to help me through the first few months of boat ownership! I'm taking delivery of a 2000 268 next week. It's the 5.7L with the single prop. I'd rather have the duo, but maybe later down the line I'll power up and add it. The engine only has 127 hours on it, so it should last a while. Just completed the survey and sea trials the other day and if all goes well with working out the details, I should have it by next weekend. Once a few cosmetic issues are squared away, the boat will be in mint condition. Anyways, looking forward to it.

One question I have is, the boat comes with a trailer, which I cannot use. No truck, no room. My slip is right out my back door. The broker offered a $1000 credit with the sale if I leave it to him. If I figure right, the trailer will probably sell for $2000. Any suggestions here on what to do? Any ideas on what a 2000 Four Winns trailer for the 268 would go for separately?

Thanks!

Feh. I say take the $1000 credit. I know it's just me, but trying to sell something like a trailer can be a royal pain in the butt.

Anyway, congratulations! Be sure to post some pics when you get a chance.

If you have no where to store it, how can you show it to the rif-raf that come to look at it???
I think I would take the credit as well.

Congratulations! I'll be taking delivery of a 2003 268, next week as well.

The trailer is worth $2000 to $3000 and would be fairly easy to sell. However, if you have no way to move it around or otherwise deal with it, I would counter with at least $1500, to the broker. He's going to sell it for $2000 to $3000 or so.

Well, thanks for the input guys. I took a $1000 credit for it just to avoid the hassle. I had previously countered with $1500, but broker said he really wasn't in the business of selling trailers. Oh well, the way I see it, when we settled on the price, the broker didn't even know there was a trailer!

Shop is replacing the bellows for me, servicing the outdrive and making a repair to the cabin door latch and then she'll be in the water. I'll put pics up then. Thanks guys!!!

So, I took possession of the boat today. I took it from Dana Point down to San Diego (~3 hrs.). It was a great first trip for the boat and gave me plenty of time to get to know her. I couldn't be happier. I think I'll be doing some detailing for the next couple days just to get it the way I want it, but she handles great! I'll post pics when I figure out how.

Kingster,

It's about 75 - 80 NM. Hard to tell cause you have to navigate the coastline and when you come into the SD bay you have to go around Coronado. We live on the south end of Coronado. I'm sure I will have lots of questions. I spent most of the day today cleaning and going through everything. I've already noticed a couple things I have questions on. I'll ask when I have a better idea of what I need clarified. So far the boat is great though. Thanks!
