I'm less than thrilled with the setup of the icemaker in the cockpit of our 348. It's mounted well enough, but it's behind a door and the heat from it tends to really bake the locker alongside of it. That and putting fabric carpet at the bottom of that adjacent locker is good for nothing other than growing mold. Rain tends to drip down from the trashcan lid above and the carpet gets soaking wet. That and anything stowed in there gets roasted from the heat of the icemaker.
I'm wondering if some sort of fan with vent down into the engine compartment would help. Or perhaps get slots cut into the door to aid ventilation.
I'll say this though, it cranks out cubes pretty well. Just be SURE not to get bad water from a transient slip. 'Hose water' doesn't make good ice for cocktails....
