I mentioned a while back that I would be adding a second set of speakers to the helm. Here are just a couple quick cell phone pictures that I took of where I placed them. This was a surprisingly easy install. I purchased a 6" hole saw, took extreme caution to ensure I didn't drill into anything behind the hull, ensured my mark 3x's. I removed the panel from the boat, and drilled this seperately, then I remounted the panel to the hull, and drilled the fiberglass. (talk about a butt pucker) Ran the wires, and mounted the speakers. Really easy and they LOOK AND SOUND GREAT!!!

Of course. I actually have 2 different amps. One for the sub and one for the 4 helm speakers.

I actually removed the two plastic storage compartments located under the helm seat. I made two doors with latches to cover the old openings out of oak. I lined it with an outdoor carpet. I'll take some pics this weekend and show you. I also located the sub there as well by cutting the fiberglass on the side of that "box" that holds the helm seat. I hate the sub and it's location but since I cut the fiberglass, I guess I am stuck with it. I tried to build an enclosed box under the seat, and I give it a "c" grade, but it does make it sound a little better. I am debating ripping the whole sub and makeshift box out and finding a good quality open air sub that will withstand the marine environment.

On another thread someone suggested using the space under the lounge seating in the back under the removable seat for the subwoofer. What are your thoughts on that?

Yep, it works great and this Kicker 06SKM10 fits under the seat. No need to drill and cut
huge holes in your boat either.

I don't have it.........yet !

My slip mate does . I unhooked it from his boat to see if it would fit under my rear seat. It does. It has standard gold connectors attached to the enclosure for wires from your amp.
Easy to hook up and un hook. No real mounts for it, but I was going to ad a couple of stainless L brackets, screw them to the enclosure and to the deck, so it does not move around, or so it can't be stolen easily. It really does sound good, and is thin enough to fit under our seats.

Looks really nice. Have tried to find a way to remove that very panel on my 248V. Cannot fiqure it out. Appreciate any help because I think that is how to get at the antennae mounting "hard points".

Picture number one. Starboard side panel, aft of the drivers seat where the new speaker was installed.

For what its worth I just took off the port side panel where the factory installed speaker is. There are 2 screws you need to remove one you can see by looking under the panel and the other is in the on the bottom of the fabric over the speaker. Once you got those 2 off then the hole panel is lifted off of hooks.
