I am considering a used 2006 318. I have yet to see the boat in person, but hopefully I will next weekend. I have a couple of questions about the LCD TV and antenna setup.

1) Is the factory LCD TV high def?

2) Does it have a built-in off-air tuner?

3) How is the TV mounted to the cabinet, and can I easily hang a larger TV (or one that is HD)?

4) Is there an antenna installed on the radar arch as standard equipment? (The picture I have of the boat is at an angle such that I cannot see the entire top of the arch.)

5) If there is not an antenna, is there coax cable run as standard equipment?

Thanks, John

the 05 sharp 15" wasn't hd. But it's easy enough to add an HD tuner and it'll work fine. Same thing with the antenna. The coax just drops down the starboard side arch and then up to the TV. I think it's already there as that wiring also supports the shore locker cable TV connection. If the boat was ordered bare bones then it's possible it wouldn't be present. But you'll see it yourself soon enough!

Installing a larger TV is certainly possible but not without complications. There aren't a lot of mounting locations that work well for all viewing positions.

Hey John,

The TV in the galley is mounted on the cabinet door and you'd be hard pressed to install a bigger one, plus the extra weight of a bigger one may be an issue with strain on the door.
The cabinet door has a cut out for the back of the TV to fit in, allowing only the TV's silver bezel to show outside of the cabinet, thats why I don't think you could fit a bigger one there.

You may be able to install one a bit bigger right above the entrance to the aft cabin beside the door to the cockpit but it would be more of a pain in the ass for what its worth and not the best locale for viewing on IMHO.

The TV antenna is on the port side of the arch if that helps determine if its there, but if memory serves me correctly the Galley TV was standard on the '06 318 , therefore it should be there and the cable runs down the STBD side as Bill indicated.

I have the optional aft-cabin TV/DVD combo in mine as well. You should find out if that one has it as well. Nice to have when the kids want to watch something else at the same time as you.
