In a parallel circuit, each device is directly connected to the power source. This is done so that each device receives the same voltage
As far as wiring it up, there are many ways to go about it. You could tap into the existing inlet but you need to understand that only one side can be connected at once and while the other side is running the non connected inlet is hot.
To eliminate that scenario you could wire your existing inlet plus this new one into a transfer switch much like the larger cruisers have to toggle between shore power and generator. This is the route I will like to go when I tackle this project.
