How hard is it to have a marine generator added and would anyone know the cost for same?

If you decide that you want to save $9K, I highly recommend the Honda EU2000. Ya it is a pain to have on the swim deck, but that is the price we pay vs. expensive on board-hard to get to gen set. The little 2000 will run just about everything you need on a 268 (can not run a/c and micro at the same time).

There are other benefits to having a portable gen set, can use around the house (power outages), and camping.

Go with the EU2000. IMHO it is too large of an investment to make for that boat. I have the 248 w/ an EU2000 and I love it.

a good price for a Honda EU2000 is $870 ish, MSRP is $1199.

I got mine from Mayberrys.com Free shipping/no tax out of state, shipped to my door less than 5 working days. But that was many years ago.

Check out the new yamaha....it is 10 lbs lighter than Honda (approx). I have the honda, it has been great & reliable (just a little heavy). Also, look into getting the duration tank (will get you thru a 3 day weekend on the boat)....getting up at 5 am for a fuel refill is no fun when the bugs are feeding...well worth the money and easy to hook up.

I believe the yamaha that is 10 lbs lighter is there 1000 watt unit, similar to the EU1000.

It is very easy to add an aux tank to the Honda EU's. I know of 3 and 5 gallon versions. Someone on this site, I thought, had posted how to make your own aux tank for vary reasonable cost.

Almost Exact specs to the Honda EU2000!!!! Only difference I see, honda weights in a 47 lbs dry, and runs 15 hr @ 1/4 rated load. I tad heavier, but more efficient. I still say the Honda is the better choice.
