Well she was supposed to be here yesterday. The rig broke down in Savannah, Ga - luckily at a truck stop gas station. The truck is an 07, but the alternator failed. They got the alternator in this morning and then the latest update was that the driver had taken the truck over to a diesel mechanic for diagnostics. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's just about back on the rod.
Here's a pic just before loading:

Update on the steps.. They had them refinished but didn't use the stain that FW uses so it doesn't match the table... at least didn't appear to in the photo so I told them they were unacceptable. They finally managed to get them replaced under warranty. Supposedly FW is going to ship new steps direct. I have to return the originals upon receipt.
Also, there was some drama with replacing the bent hinge. Almost 3 weeks went by and they didn't have the hinge from FW. I said the hell with it - I'll have it done up here. Well they managed to find a hinge in the parts dept. and replaced the bent hinge. At the same time my dealer said the hinges now don't match - mine were brushed and the new one is polished. So it looks like FW will be paying for a haul out so I can have some matching hinges. I can't believe they didn't overnight the parts! I guess they had to make new hinges :?

This is usually par for the course. Whenever something really awesome is about to occur for me there's always a few beforehand headaches. I'll feel so much better when she gets here.

welcome to the world of vista ownership.

3 months waiting for a $14 generator fuel pick up tube.

I'm hoping one more month.

Sheesh!

I get so tired of waiting for parts and end up making many myself or finding automotive replacements. Of course I don't have a warranty, I am the warranty. But our last FW, getting warranty work done, waiting for factory Ok, and not having a boat to use, ect.........

mkevbren, That is a very nice boat, even if you have a punch list that is bigger than you would like.

I think we are all in the same boat (no pun intended). We waited 6 weeks for a few minor cosmetic parts but a replacement Merc DTS system was here in 3 days. :?

Yes, the world of new Vista ownership can try your patience. Be glad you did not buy this Sea Ray.

I just purchased a new 2009 Sundancer 270. On delivery the arch had a crack in it, the A/C drip pan leaked and water was all in the rear of the cabin. I was up on the first night wet dry vacuuming water till 2am. The television antenna was broken and had no reception, the cockpit(rear) door would not latch(they had to drill new holes for the latch and fill the old holes which left small marks where old screw holes were), the cockpit table had a 1/2in. strip of white gel coat almost all the way around it, the teak table had 2 large gouges on top in the wood, the cabin door still has a 2 inch gap at the top where it doesn't close correctly(they aren't sure how to fix), the remote spot didn't work, the cockpit windows leak water from the bottom that pours into the inside, and that was just the major stuff.
The bottom paint wasn't painted high enough up the side of the hull so it has to be pulled on Monday to add another 3 inches of paint, the carpet in the cockpit and cabin had to be steam cleaned because they had stains in them, and 2 of the cockpit cushions had tears/holes in them. Also, for some reason they replaced the transom shower nozzle and replaced it with the wrong one which split the inside clip. Oh yeah...you can't watch tv with the generator going because it has a high pitched squeal through the speakers.

I can totally relate. My first Sea Ray 320 had a hole in it and not in a good place. Second one, the 340 had crackles and pops that were in the extra-cost MoMo sound system and I basically was told that's how she goes. I do not regret trading her in at all for my 358.

Did you guys get a "safety equipment" bag included with your boat? I wanted to make sure this wasn't factory provided. I told the dealer that the flares and the extinguisher were expired and he said that the bag wasn't supposed to come with the boat - it was left in by mistake. The kit contains pfd's, a small anchor, horn, flares, fire extinguisher and maybe a first aid kit.. So I guess it's an error in my favor (minus the flares and extinguisher) so long as he's not BSing me! Just curious...

It's a dealer thing - not Four Winns. Enjoy the stuff. 4th of July is coming up - so pop those flares off! :D

cool. Coug, the 318 owner next to me blew his starboard side VP motor. They said he pushed out the front main and I suppose he had too much oil loss. They went nuts trying to get VP to cover it. The owners wife was damn near in tears talking to me yesterday. Something like they would replace the motor but wanted like 5K to ship it! She called FW and FW lit a fire under VP, VP is now stepping up and covering it 100%.

Were they in the warranty period??? Seems like it would be a no brainer about paying for the fix...

I know Volvo doesn't cover haul outs (neither does merc) -- but everything else should be covered - and frankly, four winns should cover the haul out.

Yes, they were well within the warranty period. They bought at the end of last season (new) and I don't think it has ten hours on it! My thoughts exactly on the haulout, and I relayed that to her.

Yeah Brenden,
Many dealers deliver boats with safety kits, boat poles, flares, etc. When I bought the Sea Ray, it came with a personalized throw ring, personalized champagne flutes, the boat lettering, a kit with common fluids for replenishment, oh yeah and it came with a hole in the hull too!

Our dealer supplied all safety equipment required by the Coast Guard along with a stern anchor and spool of line for it a dock pole, fenders, wash bucket full of wax, boat soap and other misc stuff. I don't know if others also got a bunch of stuff for the head also, paper, bottles of blue goop, and a new filter.

Sounds like the only day of the week they worked on this poor bastard's boat was a Monday.
