Hi! I don't run this generator that much (it only has 34 hours on it), but I do run it once a month with a load on it. I ran it last week for 20 minutes, and discovered steam coming out of the exhaust, and the water very hot to the touch. I disconnected the inlet hose and back flushed through the strainer (which was clean) and through the thru hull through the bottom of the boat. I replaced the impeller which had one blade missing. I flushed out the hose off the exit side of the pump that goes into the heat exchanger. It seemed clean. This genny has new oil, newer spark plugs and the coolant is at the correct level. I put it back together it shoots water 3 1/2 feet out the back with steam still coming out. The water is still very hot. I know there are sensors on this genny. I let it run 6 1/2 hours with a full load on it. It ran great. Does anybody know what I can do next, or if this is a characteristic of this genny? Could it be that because the swim platflorm is so large, that the exhaust is being trapped underneath?

Thanks,
Joe

The water coming out of mine is warm (shower temp or less) but not hot. I would have thought replacing the impeller would have solved the problem.

Hi JXP

Not going to help you much with the genset problem but as you have the same model as I do thought it would be worth encouraging you to look at my thread on the Hull quality of the 328 vista, I'm sure yours is fine but please read the thread and get the tests I recommend. For your families sake.

Cheers
Brett Smith

Did you try running the genset with the circuit breaker off ? Does it still idle high ?

I don't recall the exhaust water from our genset being that hot, nor did it 'shoot' out. That seems a bit odd. But I have no idea how the water plumbing works for a genset. Might it be possible yours is getting stopped up somehow and retaining more heat than it's supposed to? Could that missing impleller blade be blocking something? It might be a good idea to ask that question over on one of the BoatUS website forums.
