I have a 00' 268 and a 06' Nissan Titan CC. I don't pull mine because I don't have the Big Tow gears that rate the truck for 9400 LBS pull. Mine rates out at 7400 LBS. Regardless I would never try to top out my truck and run the risk of having to replace the transmission when it inevitably overheats from the strain. Even if you pull is mostly flat I have never seen a flat dock ramp and that is where most of your strain will come from. And as you stated you would fill-up close to the put in adding the fuel and water weight to the boat prior to the main strain on your truck.
IMHO... don't ruin your Titan. Sell it to someone who has a jet ski or two and buy a 3/4 ton truck. Let me know what yo get and how well it works out.

Bought my 05, 268 Vista in Pgh. Pa., 8700 pounds empty as FW sez. Towed it to Port Charlotte Fla. the next day with a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton. I figured if I made it up Greentree Hill on the parkway west I would be OK. Topped the hill at 40 mph. 5.3 litre in the Silverado by the way. Through West Virginia, Virgina and the Carolinas I used the truck lanes going up and down the mountains. Once I got on flat land I set the cruise at 70 mph. Did blow a tire on the trailer outside of Stark Fla. but no problems. Still have the truck and boat. The reason I did this was getting a brand new 2005 six grand cheaper than end of year 2004 that wasn't exactly what me and the boss wanted. Would I do this again? There ain't no way in hell.
Trailer was a rental, 35' aluminum. Fortunatly my boat is lift kept in my back yard.
