Good point Bill,
I've ordered one to have a look at how they are built. If I don't like what I see, it's going back and I'll order the external type.
Thanks to all for your input and I'll let you know how things work out.

Keep us posted! I'm going the external route, not sure how soon I will order it though.

Yes, I have had my holding tank full for a week or so on more than one occasion. The sender worked fine after pumping out the tank. The fresh water tank reading has been fine all season. I have checked the actual level in the tank and compared the level per the tank sensor without any issues. They appear to be working (so far so good)

My holding tank gauge was reading full, and then I installed the new sending unit. Now its just flashing "E." I double checked the wiring, and all is good. When I put the fresh water sending unit hooked up to it, it still flashes "E"

Which sending units did you use?

Mr. Kearney has the right idea. Our 2005, 268 HAD the xintex units, both failed, one replaced under warranty. The xintex units were a capacitive type probe if I'm not mistaken. Being a retired instrumentation and control technician who worked in the power industry for 25 years I can truly say I never met a capacitance probe I liked. I replaced mine with a Dometic DTM8 and they are working fine after 2 years. Yes you will have to run wiring. I removed the display unit and had to make the hole a little bigger to fit the Dometic. I also ran a small bead of clear RTV arond the display when installation was complete. The cover plate had a slight gap where water could get to the printed circuit board. It was not the worst project I ever tackled.
