Has anyone mounted a RIB tender on the bathing platform or jet ski on a 358. if some has, have they used any davits, i am looking at mounting either a 2.7m or 3.1m rib tender with two removelable davits. I am planning to make up a bow and stern v mounting blocks that slightly over hang the transom. Total wieght with 10 hp outboard should be about 80Kgs so not to bad. Anyone have any comments?

Cheers

Sean

If by RIB you mean the 'hard bottom' inflatable - you will want to be very careful about weight.

Make sure the integrated platform on the 358 has enough support to handle the weight of a rib, motor, davits, equipment, AND people standing on the platform.

Sierra has his 358 with an Achilles Hypalon... I have the same inflatable (9'6'') ready to go on te 318 platform. Both of us are using Weaver Davit systems. He has his motor permanently mounted with a Leaver system - I have a 2.5 hp that I will be stowing in the transom locker.

Do a search on dinghy and you'll come up with some ideas.

Hey Sean,

I neglected to reply as I have no knowledge of how a RIB would work on our boats, but as Cougar mentioned, I have an inflatable/davit setup. There are threads with pictures and details here and here.

RIB stands for Rigid Inflatable Boat, yes basically a fibreglass hull and transom with an inflatable ring around it. Very very common in Europe.
Thanks for your posts, i do not think that 160Lbs is a real worry for the bathing platform, when this is basically 1 adult or in some/more cases alot less!! need i say more

Cheers all

Sean

An example, West Marine have lots

We have a 6.5 ft Zodiac RIB that we lean on the swim platform and use the stern rail for support, we then stow a 6 hp merc 4 stroke under the cockpit table. It is not ideal but works for now.

I have a Walker Bay Rib that is 8'10 on the back of our 248 that stays put with Weavr Davits. I would love to use the Hurley Davit, but will wait for the upgrade to do that. The dink weighs 120 lbs and is not a problem back there at all. I have a 9.9 Merc four stroke that I keep in the cockpit when underway.

I didnt take any pics of the boat with the dink stored up. The boat is out of the water now for the winter. I just used the standard Weaver davits with quick release plates on the swim platform. Glued the pads to the dink and that was it. Next year I am going to install stand offs to keep the dink from rubbing the seat.
