Hello,

A friend and I are seriously considering a 2004 248 Vista. The boat appears to be in very good condition, and is at a good price.

We don't know the marque at all, and would be very grateful for some unbiased comments on the ride, sea-keeping qualities, and any problems to look out for, We are going to be solent-based, cruising UK south coast, channel island and northern France, two or three days at a time, so our wives are also keen to find out about any "domestic" shortcomings.

We have considered lots of Bayliner 285s and 275s, and similar, but have not yet seen a Four Winns. Sorry to appear clueless, but, as a converting WAFI, I am.

Thanks!

The Fourwinns boats are a very well built boat and you will be happy with the ride in choppy seas. If you are taking 2 couples for a 3 day extended cruise I think you might find that boat or anything under 30' a bit cozy.

We love our 248, but all that ever stay on the boat overnight would be me, wife and one child. I don't think I could ever consider another couple staying on the boat, other than a few hour cruise. Thats just me.

We have had the boat out in 3-5' chop, handles well.

When buying a used boat, I recommend that you better be comfortable about throughly evaluating the boat or hire someone that is. You sure do not want to buy a headache.

I personally dont think you can compare Four Winns to a Bayliner. Your dollar will buy a much larger boat if you look at the bayliner product though, any maybe that will fit the ticket for you and your partner????
If you where going to have a co-ownership, but use it separately, I highly recommend a through look at the 248.

good luck and let us know what you get.
